About Me

Don’t be fooled by my baby picture—I gave my parents a run for their money! Now, my own son is doing the same for me.

Well before becoming a parent, though, I had two passions: teaching, and spending too much time researching things on the Internet. I love my day job as a public high school teacher in the Bronx, but in my spare time, I dive deep into all the rabbit holes. I get a thrill from digging into every nitty gritty detail when I make a decision, from helping me figure out I wanted to go to Yale, to finding a sun-filled (and cheap) first apartment in NYC, to picking out the perfect trash can for my new home in Westchester.

Combined with my love of education and my first-hand experiences as a mom, I realized I could save other parents hours of frantically searching Reddit, feeling guilty reading the advice on Instagram parenting accounts, or flipping through baby-led weaning books (don’t know what baby-led weaning is? Don’t worry, I’ll teach you!).

I was also lucky enough to have some expert guidance, myself. When I was pregnant and newly postpartum, I often caught myself repeating, “well, my friend Sarah says…” (Sarah conveniently had her baby three months before I did), or “according to my friend Claudia” (Claudia conveniently became a board-certified pediatrician the same month I got pregnant).

Thus, My Friend Rachel was born: a concierge service for soon-to-be and new parents, offering consultations on just about any baby-related topic you might otherwise be Googling at 3 AM. I am here to help make your pregnant and postpartum experience as smooth and stress-free as possible, whether that means helping you craft your registry, pack your hospital bag, pick non-toxic diapers, babyproof the living room, or sleep train.

Disclaimer: I am NOT a medical professional, a doula, or a licensed lactation consultant (but I can help you find a great match, if you need one)!

From building my registry to figuring out where the baby will sleep and dividing the roles between mom and dad the first couple months, Rachel was there for all my questions and gave me guidance so I was slowly able to feel more prepared. Having another perspective outside of doctors, friends, and family, to help you navigate all those feelings you are having from a neutral, judgement free perspective was exactly what I needed. Would do again x1000!”

Testimonials

My wife and I were struggling to sleep train our 6-month-old, unsure of how to balance our personal beliefs with what was best for our son. After doing endless research, we felt overwhelmed by the sheer amount of information, much of it contradictory. That’s when we reached out to Rachel. She guided us through her philosophy of sleep training, which aligned perfectly with our parenting style. In just two days, our son was sleep-trained, able to fall asleep on his own, and soothe himself back to sleep when he woke before his next feeding. We highly recommend Rachel to any new parent, as she truly listens and values the sensitivity around both children’s and parents’ needs.
